The draw for the fifth round of the 2020-21 Emirates FA Cup having been made in advance of this weekend’s fourth-round ties, its schedule is now taking shape. The fifth round is due to take place on or around Wednesday 10 February.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton were the first sides to secure their places in round five, who beat non-league Chorley and holders Arsenal respectively to set up a meeting at Molineux.
Six more teams sealed fifth-round spots in Saturday’s afternoon matches, with top-flight sides West Ham United, Sheffield United and Brighton & Hove Albion avoiding potential upsets.
Later in the day, Manchester City left it late to secure their place in the next round, as Pep Guardiola’s side came from behind to beat League Two Cheltenham Town thanks to goals from Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres.
Sunday’s action started in dramatic fashion with Tammy Abraham scoring a hat-trick to help last season’s finalists Chelsea overcome Luton, while Leicester City, Burnley and Everton also secured their places in the next round.
Manchester United sealed their spot with Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes all scoring in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Liverpool.
On Monday, Tottenham Hotspur progressed into the last 16 with a victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park, with late goals from Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks sealing a 4-1 win for Jose Mourinho’s side.
