2019-20 NBA Champions Los Angeles Lakers are making important free agency signings to build a strong squad for title defense. Their GM & Vice-President of Basketball operations Rob Pelinka completed another important signing in Toronto Raptors’ big man Marc Gasol on Sunday, November 22. ESPN’s insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news first.
Gasol will sign two year deal for the equivalent of the veteran’s minimum salary for a player with 10-plus years of service in the league of $2.56 million per year, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks. However, because Gasol will be signing a two-year deal, L.A. will not receive the typical cap relief that comes from signing a player to the veteran’s minimum
Marc Gasol was drafted by the Lakers, but had his rights traded to Memphis for his brother, Pau, before he ever played an NBA game. Now, he’ll get a chance to help the Lakers win back-to-back titles. Also Pau and Marc Gasol would be the first set of brothers to each play for the Lakers at any point in their careers
