The 2021 playoff bracket is officially set after the NL West crown and AL Wild Card race came down to the final day of the season. Fortunately neither one will require a tiebreaker.
Two age-old rivals in the Yankees and Red Sox will face off in the AL Wild Card Game at Fenway Park on Tuesday, and the Giants clinched the division title with their franchise-record 107th victory of the season.
Dodgers late season surge was not enough to stop the Giants winning NL West Division title this year. But the 2020 World Series Champions will host the NL wild card game against St.Louis Cardinals and Adam Wainwright at Dodgers Stadium on Wednesday, October 6.
Both AL Wild Card chasers saved the drama for late, with the Yankees walking off on the Rays to seal their spot in a 1-0 win, and the Red Sox getting a clutch 2-run home run from Rafael Devers in the 9th to sink the Nationals.
The Blue Jays took care of their own business by beating the Orioles, but they needed either the Yanks or Red Sox to lose to force a tiebreaker.
