If ties are level after 180 minutes they are decided on away goals, first and foremost. If teams still can’t be separated, it goes to extra time. If both teams score the same number of goals during the 30 additional minutes, away goals count double. If there are no further goals in extra time, the tie goes to a penalty shoot-out (alternate takers).
Similar to 2020 season, English side Manchester United labeled as favorites to win it all after the Quarter-finals draw. But former Man. United defender, Denis Irwin, belives United as a tough task in the form of Granada in the quarter-finals, he said:
“[Granada are] new to Europe. It’s their first year in. They’ve had some really good results, so it’ll be a tough test for us and we’re looking forward to it. We’ll obviously go into it as strong favourites. I thought we’ve had two tough ties in getting past [Real] Sociedad and Milan last night, where we’ve had to go away and win the game.”
“There’s no easy teams left in the quarter-final draw. They’re a La Liga team so they’ll be very, very strong, technically very good, tactically very, very good. We’ve come up against [Real] Sociedad in the tournament already where we played very, very well. So, it’ll be a tough task, but one we’re looking forward to because we’re in good form.”
