Chelsea missed their chance to cement top-4 finish with a loss at Bramall Lane, Sheffield.
Frank Lampard side was in good form before tonight’s clash with Blades, Blues just lost once in their last 5 premier league games.
Sheffield United looked better side whole match especially on counter attacks. David McGoldrick opened the scoring for home team in the 18th minute with left footed shot from very close range to the centre of the goal.
Oliver McBurnie doubled the lead for Sheffield in 33th minute with a powerfull header from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner. Assisted by Enda Stevens with a cross.
Chelsea were down by 2 goals heading into half-time. Frank Lampard had enough of his team and he made two changes immediately after second-half kick-off, bringing in Antonio Rüdiger and Marcos Alonso in place of Andreas Christensen & Mason Mount.
Nothing much changed for Lampard men in second half either, they struggled to really trouble Sheffield United defense.David McGoldrick scored third goal for home side and second for night with right footed shot from the centre of the box to the centre of the goal.
With today’s loss ,Chelsea stays in Third place in the standings with 60 points in 35 games but they could drop out top-4 if both Manchester United and Leicester wins their next game.
With win over Chelsea,Sheffield moved to 6th place in the standings ahead of Wolves and their chances of playing Europe next year looks better.
