Man utd: Luke Shaw set to miss FA cup semi-final clash against Chelsea

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says left-bank Luke Shaw will miss Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea at Wembley.

Shaw was injured after rolling his ankle badly against his former club Southampton on Monday, before his replacement Brandon Williams also came off that night with apparent head injury that left gash on his eyes.

Both Shaw and Williams were ruled out of the win at Crystal Palace on Thursday. But Red Devils Manager thinks the young home grown Brandon Williams will be recovered from the injury before team selection.

Ole on availability of Luke and Williams

“Luke will be out,I can’t see him recovering.Brandon will hopefully be okay,he’ll try to join in training today with his eye. We’ll see if he can see the ball when he comes in!He should be fine.”

When asked about Introducing some fresh legs into starting XI, due to hectic schedule? Ole responded saying

“We have not seen a lot of them because we are just coming up to a training session now. But I would rather have this game than not have it.We can’t say the schedule has been unkind, it is what it is and, when you get the opportunity to play a semi-final, you will squeeze that in even if you have to play on the same day.”

About Team selection

Stand by Keeper Segio Romero has been fantastic in the previous rounds of FA cup and so New Striker Odion Ighalo. There is possibility of Ole retaining them for Sunday’s clash.

After a long spell out of Starting XI , Jesse Lingard returned to action against Crystal Palace in Substitute role. His record at Wembley will be hard one for Ole to ignore him out of Starting XI.

Ole responds to question about Starting XI selection

“The team is not selected yet and that goes both for Jesse and Sergio, They have got a good chance of being involved, so we will make a decision on that later on”
