Red Bull driver Max Verstappen handed €50,000 fine by FIA Stewards for barely touching Lewis Hamilton’s Car on Friday after qualifying session. Sebastian Vettel joked about touching Lewis’s car with his race engineer on Saturday over team radio after finishing P10 in the Sprint.
Seb on the team radio joked after quali:
Seb: “Okay…Thank you. I’m going to touch Hamliton’s rear wing”
Chris: “Don’t you dare. It’s very expensive”
Seb: “I’m joking. I’ll try the front wing. maybe it’s 25K”
Max Verstappen also joked about his 50000€ fine:
“That is a hefty fine. Hopefully they have a nice dinner with a lot of expensive wine. They can also invite me to that dinner, I’ll pay for that too!”
Max also confirmed that him looking at Lewis’s rear wing had something to do with flexi wings, not with the DRS. This was the issue that Red Bull discussed with the FIA this weekend, saying that the Mercedes rear wing does what their rear wing did back in Baku.
Christian Horner also shares his thoughts about Max touching Lewis’s car, Horner to Sky Sports: “Max tried his hardest to smash Lewis’s wing to smithereens but he’s just far too small and weak. So very weak. It was a bit sad really. So I don’t know what Mercedes are concerned about.”
