Sebastian Vettel has been disqualified from his second place at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Vettel has been penalised for not being able to supply enough fuel at the end of the race and lost his second podium finish of the season. This has now promoted Lewis Hamilton to second and Carlos Sainz to third for Ferrari.
Sebastian pulled over on the cool down lap and made his way to the podium on foot, waving to the crowd. The FIA need to be able to take a sample of one litre to run all their necessary tests to check that they’re running legal fuels but they were only able to gather 0.3 litres from Seb’s car.

Aston Martin’s official statement on Vettel’s disqualification
“Sebastian avoided the chaos at the beginning of the Grand Prix and worked his way to second before engaging in a race-long duel for victory with Alpine’s Esteban Ocon.
His second-place finish initially secured the team’s second podium of the 2021 season following Sebastian’s earlier podium in Azerbaijan.
But following a routine post-race procedure in Hungary, it was found that Sebastian’s car was unable to provide the required quantity of fuel for a sample.
The 18 points loss is disappointing for the team, but it doesn’t take away from an otherwise flawless drive from Sebastian.
Today we showed that our car has strong race pace. Onwards and upwards.”
