Brighton 2 – 3 Manchester United: Sloppy United escaped with a win at Amex stadium

Sloppy Manchester United register their first premier League win of 2020-21 season at Amex Stadium on Saturday after beating Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2. A Bruno Fernandes penalty in the 10th minute of added time is the difference between two sides.

After losing season opener to Crystal Palace, United wanted to bounce back with a win. But the players were awful & sloppy, poor passing and defense allowed Brighton to create more chances than United.Ole badly need some signings before it gets too late for him and Manchester United.

Brighton were better side today, they have created more chances than United and they hit United goal post more than five times. First break through of the game in just before half-time break, Neal Maupay opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Tariq Lamptey had been brought down by Bruno Fernandes in the 40th minute.

United levelled just 194 seconds later with a Brighton’s own goal, when Nemanja Matic’s poke back across goal was diverted in by Lewis Dunk. The visitors went in front on 55 minutes when Marcus Rashford took Fernandes’s pass from halfway and tricked the Brighton defenders before scoring. This will be United’s 10,000th goal in all competition.

VAR made some critical decisions in the game.

Manchester United manager Ole brought in Eric Baily and Danny Van de Beek in-place of Greenwood and Martial to survive the Brighton’s relentless attack in the final minutes of the game. But Solly March headed in Alireza Jahanbakhsh’s cross at the far post in stoppage time to break United players hearts.

But Maupay’s handball, awarded on review after the referee had initially blown for full-time, allowed Fernandes to score from the spot with the last kick of the match.
