FIA president’s General Assembly election is scheduled on 17 December and FIA reveals the candidates list, who are fighting for the position to replace out going president Jean Todt.
On 23 October 2009, Todt was elected as President of the FIA (for what would become his first term) gaining 135 votes in comparison to Vatanen’s 49. He was re-elected, unchallenged, for a second four-year term on 6 December 2013, and was again re-elected, unopposed, for a third four-year term on 8 December 2017.

“Under the FIA Statutes and Internal Regulations, all candidates for the position of President of the FIA shall, in their capacity as list leader, deposit with the FIA Administration a complete list showing the 10 names of the candidates for the positions of Deputy President for Automobile Mobility and Tourism, Deputy President for Sport and President of the Senate, together with the name of the candidates for Vice-Presidents for Sport (7).
Only lists having the support of 6 ACNs, 6 ASNs and 6 Mobility FIA Members shall be submitted to the General Assembly.
Two lists whose eligibility has been confirmed by the FIA Nominations Committee have been submitted to the FIA Administration, one from Mr Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the other from Mr Graham Stoker.”
