Hungarian GP Qualifying: Hamilton on pole from Bottas

Another Race weekend another pole for Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton. The Brit scored his 90th career pole with a scorching lap.

Hamilton’s 1:13.447 pole lap was a New track record at Hungaroring and he leads Bottas for another 1-2 finish in Qualifying.It will be 65th front row lockout for champions, equaling Ferrari record of most front row lockouts in F1 history.

Q1- Ferrari Engine Customers at bottom, Williams Through to Q2

With 90% chance of Rain forecast , teams sent their drivers on Soft red compounds immediately after green light, to avoid missing out in the rain.

It was two Racing Points set the pace in Q1 session with Perez in P1 and Stroll in P2 ahead of Lewis Hamilton. But session become more interesting in the final minutes with track evolution, Williams George Russell took full advantage of it and puts his FW43 in P5 before dropping to P9 at end of the session.

Geroge is joined by his teammate Nicholas Latifi as Williams got both cars out of Q1 for the first time this year.

Ferrari engine customers struggled for pace,all four cars are dropped out of Q1 along with Alpha Tauri’s Daniil Kvyat. kimi Raikkonen dropped out of Q1 for the fourth time in a row this season and it will be first time in his career to have that unwanted record.

DROP OUTS: Magnussen, Kvyat, Grosjean, Giovinazzi and Raikkonen

Q2- Mercedes and Racing Point go far Medium Tyre’s

Mercedes and Racing Point opted for Medium tires in the second qualifying session with an eye on tomorrows race.Champions were able to clear the field comfortably in Mediums, with Lewis on top of the session with 1:14.261.

Nervy final minutes for Racing Point after opting for Medium tires,but both Perez and Stroll survived the scare and made it to Q3.And they will be starting tomorrows race on more durable Medium tires along with Mercedes.

Another disappointing outing for Alex Albon, Red Bull sent him out in Traffic for his final flying lap and eventually missing out Q3. The Red Bull man qualifies in P13 just one place below Geroge Russell who impressed with P12.

Q3: It’s all Mercedes for pole shoot out

Mercedes turned up their engines in the final session of the Qualifying. Hamilton claims pole position with a new track record lap, it will be second pole of the season and 90th of his career. The other Mercedes driver Bottas finished in P2 just 0.107 seconds shy of his teammate.

Stroll and Perez will start race from P3 and P4 on the grid after impressive show.It will be all Ferrari on the third row of the grid, Vettel once again out-qualifies his teammate Charles Leclerc. The German maintains his record of qualifying in top-5 at Hungaroring since 2008 season with P5.

After taking poll in 2019, Max Verstappen and Red Bull finishes session in disappointing P7 ahead of Mclaren pair Lando Norris and Carols Sainz. Gasly round off the top-10 with a impressive P10.
