According to multiple sources, Manchester United are set to sack manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Darren Fletcher is expected to take temporary charge.
Multiple sources have confirmed that board have decided to fire the Norwegian after 5 hour internal talk sack ,with compensation being discussed.
Solskjaer took over as caretaker manager in December 2018 before he was appointed permanent manager three months later, having led United to 14 wins in his first 19 games in charge.
United finished third in Solskjaer’s first full season as manager and rose to second in the following campaign, but their form has collapsed this term amid the expectation of a Premier League title challenge.
Solskjaer received a new three-year contract in July but Watford’s 4-1 thrashing of United means they have now taken four points from their last 21 in the Premier League and are 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
Solskjaer apologised to the United supporters at full-time at Vicarage Road on Saturday but many loudly and specifically booed the Norwegian.
United, seventh in the table, have conceded 15 goals in their last four defeats to Watford, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Leicester. The 5-0 trouncing by Liverpool was their worst-ever home defeat to their biggest rivals.
The outgoing executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward nor any members of the Glazer family, who own the club, were in attendance for the Watford match. Managing director Richard Arnold, the would-be successor to Woodward, was also not present.
