World Champions Mercedes AMG Formula 1 team set to pay tribute to British Legendary F1 driver Sir Stirling Moss by carrying a special horseshoe emblem on their cars during F170 race weekend.
Mercedes revealed the news on their social media accounts.
“This weekend, we will be paying tribute to the legendary Sir Stirling Moss by carrying a special horseshoe emblem on our cars across the race weekend. This was a symbol which appeared on Stirling’s pioneering Cooper race cars during the early days of his career.
We’d like to thank Doug Nye – a great racing historian of our sport – for suggesting this wonderful tribute. We hope that Sir Stirling would appreciate being out front on the nose of our cars, enjoying the ride around Silverstone this weekend!“
Sir Stirling Moss is a British Racing Driver, who drove for Mercedes Benz during 1955 Formula 1 season along side F1 great Fangio. Moss’s First career race win came at Silverstone, when he helped Mercedes to claim 1-2-3-4 finish in his Home Grand Prix.
Moss become first English man to win British GP. He won total 16 races in his 10 year Formula 1 career. Many considers him one of greatest driver who never won Drivers Championship in Formula 1.
