Yankees starts their 2020 campaign with a win over depending World Series champions Nationals in rain shortened 5 inning game at Nationals Park,DC.

Game Review

Yankees Pitching ace Gerrit Cole made his dream debut for his new club with a five inning gem on opening day and picked first W of the season.

Cole pitched five innings, allowed only one hit, one run, 1 ER,walked one, five strikeouts and finished game with 1.8 ERA for Yankees. The Newport beach Native completely dominated Nationals in his first outing as a Yankee.

Yankees DH Giancarlo Stanton,gave 2-0 lead to the visitors in the very first innings of the game with a two out massive 459- footer Home Run in the top of first. He finished game with 2-3,one Run and game high 3 RBI.

Yankees scored total 4 runs in 5.1 innings before rain played the spoilers.

Nationals responded back to Yankees 2 run first with a Adam Eaton’s homer in the bottom of first. Unfortunately that is the only hit and run Nationals managed in the opening night of 2020 season.Nationals World Series defense starts with a loss.

Nationals ace Max Scherzer, struggled on the mound tonight against powerhouse Yankees. He finished game with 5.1IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 4ER,1HR and 11 strikeouts.
