NBA: Milwaukee Bucks acquires Jrue Holiday from Pelicans in a mega deal

After a disappointing exit from the 2019-20 NBA Playoffs in the hands of Eastern Conference Champions Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks made important trade on Monday night, November 17th, to acquire all-star guard Jrue Holiday from New Orleans Pelicans.

According ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojarowski, Bucks will send guards Eric Bledsoe, George Hill ,three future first-round picks and two pick swaps to Pelicans in return of two-way guard Jrue Holiday. For Pelicans, the deal is in similar lines with Anthony Davis Trade with Los Angeles Lakers during last summer.

This deal plays significant role in many ways for Championship aspiring Milwaukee Bucks.

  • Many around the league consider this deal will seal two-time MVP Giannis Antentokounmpo’s long time future with Bucks.
  • With healthy Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn will be one of the favorites to win the east. According to latest rumors’, If they manage to add James Harden to make it super-team in Brooklyn, it will be hard for Bucks to compete without their own version of super team.
  • Miami Heat already proved in the last post-season that they are better team than Bucks and Holiday will make Bucks better team than last year if not best in the east.

After today’s trade Pelicans will have two first rounders in the upcoming draft , According to NBA Insider David Aldridge, One of the three firsts Milwaukee is sending New Orleans in the Jrue Holiday trade is the Bucks’ first-rounder in Wednesday’s draft (number 24 overall). The Pelicans already have the 13th overall pick in the first round.

Pelicans GM David Griffin basically turned Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday into; Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, six 1st-Round Picks, and 4 Pick Swaps. It will be interesting to see how they will move forward with their Draft and roster construction.
