Manchester United Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær revealed that United young trio Luke Shaw, Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams are doubtful for Thursday’s game at Crystal Palace
United’s run of 5 games with same starting XI will come to an end on Thursday due to injuries to Left-backs Luke Shaw ,Brandon Williams and right-wing Mason Green wood.
Speaking to press on Wednesday Morning, United manager Ole provided updates on Injury and possible team selection for Thursdays game.
Ole on Luke Shaw and Williams injury
“Luke has got a swollen ankle, so hopefully I’ll give him as much time as possible to recover-it was a twist on his ankle”
“Brandon’s eye, he cut up his eye there, so I don’t really know. We’ve not trained this morning, none of them trained yesterday, so they were both swollen and I’ll give them as much time as possible to get ready.”
Diogo Dalot, could fill in on the left-hand side of defence if Shaw and Williams are out, having featured in that role on a couple of occasions last season. But The young Portuguese hasn’t started in the league since October’s defeat to Newcastle.
Ole on Mason Greenwood Injury
“We can confirm the 18-year-old youth product has a swollen ankle from the midweek match against Southampton, when a shocking challenge from Oriol Romeu surprisingly went unpunished by the match officials.”
Solskjaer was annoyed by Romeu’s ‘tackle’ and told reporters on Monday night the same challenge to his own ankle would have left him injured for a month,Thankfully, Greenwood has youth and energy on his side, although the in-form goalscorer has not escaped unharmed
Team Selection plan for Thursday’s Game
Red Devils will be playing Chelsea on Sunday in their FA cup semi-final game against Frank Lampard men.
When asked about influence of FA Cup tie on team selection for Crystal Palace trip, Ole said
“The team selection for Thursday is based on Thursday, not on Sunday. Sunday is irrelevant, it doesn’t come into my head at all. It’s just Thursday, so we’ll see.”
“The Injury situation, there was a couple of doubts before the Southampton one, but they all reported fit on the day.And hopefully we can give them time now and not having to leave players out of injury, but as you say, there might be one or two fresh legs coming in”
