Four Time World Champion, Sebastian Vettel said he was sure his form would improve after two difficult weekends at Silverstone, where he was out-paced by team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The Ferrari man looked in good spirits after couple of lack-luster weekends at Silverstone. During media session The German answered to questions about his expectations on new Chassis, Last weekend team radio frustrations, rumours about parting away with Ferrari before completing the season.But he avoided questions about his future in F1.
Vettel on New Chassis
“The other one was broken, we found a small crack. But I do not expect any miracles now. Hopefully a smoother weekend.”
Vettel on criticizing Ferrari’s strategy after the last race
“We are trying to do everything we can.It is never relaxed if things don’t go your way or they go wrong – we didn’t have a great race. It’s wrong to judge emotions on reaction immediately after the race.
“We try to come back up. There is not much difference in the atmosphere from the weekend before that or even from the weekends before that.”
“I would not say that I feel frustrated, nor that there is tension with the team. At Silverstone we could have had a different strategy, we talked about it with the team and now we try to extract the full potential of the car.”
Vettel on speculations that he might not see out the season with Ferrari
“I don’t think so. We haven’t even considered or spoken about it. It is not just a question for myself. I know the job I can do. It has not been the cleanest run but if things calm down and I get a decent chance then I will use it.
“At the moment it is not all plain sailing and all calm; it is rather rough seas.
“But I have to do the best I can which is staying focused and waking up and trying to do the best I can and being fairly open-minded and trying to tackle it.
“I didn’t have a great weekend in Silverstone and didn’t get a great feeling with the car, wasn’t able to extract as much from the car as Charles was for whatever reason.
“There is not much I can do apart from work with everyone around me on my car to make sure we get the best package together.”
Vettel on whether he is getting equal equipment to Leclerc
“At the moment, I would think so. If not I would say otherwise.”
Vettel on whether SF1000 car suits Charles’ driving style more than him
“No, I don’t think so… In the end, we’re used to drive whatever we get and try to bring the best out of it. I think we’re all good at it, some a bit better than others.
As a fact, in qualifying I wasn’t able to match what Charles was doing, despite having so many attempts and new sets… That’s a bit awkward but nothing I can do, I have to hang in there and do my best.”
