Toronto Blue Jays super star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. named 2021 MLB All-star game MVP for his 2 RBI.
After hitting the longest home run tracked by Statcast in all-star history, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was becomes the youngest player to win All-Star Game MVP at 22 years and 119 days old.
Guerrero’s 468-foot third-inning solo blast was also the 200th homer in the All-Star Game.
The moment the 110.2 mph blast left Guerrero’s bat on a hanging slider from Milwaukee right-hander Corbin Burnes, Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr., who was mic’d up at the time, raised his hands and put them on his head as he slowly turned to watch the arc of the ball.
After he was presented with the award, Guerrero Jr. dedicated it to his Hall of Fame dad. “I honestly just want to thank my dad,” he said. “This is for you.”
Vlad Jr. and his father became just the third combo to both homer in an All-Star Game, joining Bobby (1973) and Barry Bonds (1998, 2002) and Ken Griffey (1980) and Ken Griffey Jr. (1992).
